More About Center for Economic Development, Entrepreneurship and Technology at EKU (CEDET)

The Center for Economic Development, Entrepreneurship and Technology partners with communities, primarily in EKU’s 22-county service region, to provide assistance to businesses, organizations, industries to aid in their development. We are partnered with other organizations on projects that extend deeper into Appalachia.

Priority Programs:  By partnering with communities, we leverage the resources of EKU and our partner networks at CEDET to accomplish: business assistance/development, entrepreneurship training, strategic planning, community development, and grant opportunity identification and writing.  CEDET is the umbrella organization at EKU for an on-campus business accelerator (incubator), the Kentucky Innovation Network, the Small Business Development Center, and Coal Country Beeworks. Each of these programs have missions that connect back to CEDET that can accelerate businesses and communities forward. We regularly leverage our individual and collective program strengths to meet community needs.

The CEDET Director also serves as Director of the Center for Appalachian Regional Engagement and Stewardship (CARES), which seeks to improve EKU's relationship with and service to the Appalachian region of Kentucky and the university's 22-county area of geographic responsibility. In addition, CEDET supervises the 5 regional outreach agents for EKU that conduct community and economic development activity across the 22 county service region. The agents report monthly activity and work to develop community-driven projects that tap the resources of EKU. http://roa.eku.edu/
